I gather groups for insightful, community-centered storytelling in unusual spaces
I’ve trained at the National Theater Institute in Waterford, CT, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and Russian State Arts Academy, St. Petersburg.
As chair of the Black Underground Theater Association, I was selected as the Ruth and Loring Dodd Playwright, James VanDerZee awardee, and the inaugural recipient of the William Cook-Louise Cook Jacobs Award.
I am a producer, playwright, and director who spent three incredible seasons at Northern Stage Theater Company where I shaped dialogues around diversity, inclusion, and intentionality and helped build a new home for life-changing storytelling in the Upper Valley before pursuing research full-time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
For the past five years, I’ve helped write and direct the annual “Your Class, Your Words” production and am the co-creator of Serious Play at UNC Chapel Hill. I continue to use my theatrical foundations and performance studies to inform my research in Malawi.
